Veronique Branquinho herfst winter 2006
Datum: 22 juli 2005

For Fall / Winter 2005 - 2006 Veronique Branquinho wanted to return to a new essence. The entire collection was shown in plain black to emphasise the focus on new cuts, new shapes and new details.

The overall atmosphere was serene and severe. A dark romantic but a clear, strong and complex feeling are linked with this collection, which again is a double layered play with a twist, being this designers trademark.

A lot of effort went into the tailoring with intricate seams, an at first sight straight pair of pants has curving lines tracing the thighs, skirts and skirt pants with trompe l'oeil effects, with pleats made out of incrustations. Tucks and drapes have ingeniously been worked out as details on sleeves. Darts were cleverly used to create new detailing on pants, tops and skirts.

A knee length tapered skirt with a brass buttoned jacket, a high heeled Salome pump to finish the straight and clear cut shapes. Luxurious rabbit fur sweaters and coats trimmed with soft leather offer a rich variation in material on the' black on black' theme.

Reference is made to motorcycle gear for jackets and boots, with skirts and pants that show incrustated waistbelts on the back, like bikerpants have.

Fabrics were specifically picked out for this constructed collection. The focus was on new shapes, cuts and details and a piece of heavy weight plain black fabric was the starting point for this work. Heavy weight wool high quality jersey, wool flannel, angora wool, crêpe de chine behold the timeless luxury of black.

The soundtrack sums up the designers beloved ones : Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Depeche Mode and 'Winter's going' a rare 1960's track by Bonnie Dobson.
